Ann Corcoran

Ann Corcoran is a Washington County farmer and political junky with a passion for immigration and security related issues. A resident of Maryland since 1980 when she married Howard F. Corcoran and moved from D.C. to Maryland. Howard is employed by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Born in New Jersey, Ann received a Bachelors Degree in Wildlife Biology from Rutgers University (1973) and then a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies from Yale University School of Forestry (1975). She worked as a lobbyist for the National Audubon Society from 1976-1980. Cattle, hay and horse farming brought the Corcoran's to Washington County. When their dream farm adjoining the Antietam National Battlefield was threatened by a federal taking, Ann became a property-rights activist and ultimately helped others around the country faced with the loss of their property to various levels of government to fight back. She founded and edited Land Rights Letter in 1991 and continued publishing it until 1995.

The Corcoran's have four children. Patrick, a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and the University of Maryland is a 1st Lt. presently serving in Iraq with the MD Army National Guard Unit out of Dundalk. Jack is a senior at Towson University. Highschoolers Thao and Phong, adopted from Vietnam in 1988, are at home. All four children were homeschooled at some point during their school years.

Ann is the founder and President of The Ranger Foundation, a retirement home for service horses (military, police, and therapeutic riding). http://www.rangerhorse.org/
