A long-time Carroll
County businessman, Larry Helminiak is a Republican activist and vice
president of the Maryland Republican Assembly.
Recently retired,
Helminiak started Carroll Insulation in 1970. In 1992, with three other
insulators, Helminiak started National Contracting Resources (NCR). In
1998 he expanded NCR into a larger company, United Subcontractors Inc.,
building it to 55 locations in 18 states.
A well-known business
advocate, Helminiak is a member the National Federation of Independent
Businesses (NFIB), the National Association of Home Builders, and other
leading groups. He was elected vice president of Home Builders Association
of Maryland and was twice elected national president of Insulation Contractors
Association of America. He also held numerous other offices, received
many awards, and served on the board of these organizations, as well as
the State of Maryland Institute of Home Builders. He also served on several
advisory boards-power companies, financial institutions, and companies
serving the construction industry. In 2006, Helminiak ran for House of
Delegates, District 09B.
Helminiak has appeared
on television as an expert on home energy issues and contributed articles
to several professional magazines. Since 2005, he has testified a number
of times before the Maryland General Assembly on issues affecting independent
business at the request of NFIB.
