Diane L. Mahoney
Diane L. Mahoney is the Vice President of Velco Insurance Agency, Inc., the oldest full service elder care insurance agency in the Medicare Supplementary Field. She offers personalized assistance to seniors and their families to make complicated informational choices relating to Medicare and Long-term Care protection. An active member of National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) since 1979, she served as the Senior Products Chair on the Legislative Council for the NAHU from 1996-2001. She also has served on the local and state Boards of the Baltimore Association of Health Underwriters (BAHU) and the Maryland Association of Health Underwriters (MAHU). She was the first editor of the AHU newsletter in Maryland. She is a Past President for both organizations.She was the first recipient of the BAHU Health Underwriter of the Year Award in 1992, was honored with a Special Recognition Award in 1999, and a received the NAHU Distinguished Service Award in June 2002. Born in Chicago, Ms. Mahoney and has lived in the Baltimore area for forty years. She graduated from the University of Baltimore where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in Education. She is an active member of the Emerald Isle Club of Baltimore, the O Mahony Society, and the Engineers Club. She has served on the Board of the Baltimore Boys Home Society, helped create the Baltimore Life Underwriters Associations "Food for the Hungry" program, and served as volunteer librarian for a local genealogy society. A popular speaker on genealogy, she is the co-chair of the 2002 O Mahony Society "Fall Get-Together." In 2000, she published Shamrocks and Sauerkraut, Volume I, on her family history, and is a popular genealogy speaker at affairs such as the annual Irish Festival. She was elected to the Board of Directors of MTA and to the office of Secretary in September 2002. |
